The landscape of Barre and surrounding towns offer endless fields of cows to photograph and paint. I find cows so interesting to paint because of the way their skin folds and sometimes sways, their big, beautiful eyes, and the sheer size of these gentle creatures.

I believe landscapes should be rendered loose, fluid, and layered. Inspiration come from Barre and surrounding areas. Barns and farm animals are especially appealing.

Gardening is one of my favorite activities, and the contents provide an endless source of inspiration for art making. I like the different sentiments present in a Spring garden verses a Fall garden, and all the little variations in between.

Still lives allow my brain to rest. The contemplation of light and shadow, color harmonies, and shape offer endless variations to create. Often objects take on meaning, such as meringues signifying the sweeter moments of life, and lemons and garlic representing the bitter moments.
